The Fucina del Futuro, home of SUMus, hosts the Lithuanian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale
> Wednesday May 6, 2026, La Fucina del Futuro
Eglė Budvytytė will represent Lithuania at the 61st International Art Exhibition – The Venice Biennale with the new multi-channel film installation animism sings anarchy.
Shot on 16mm and developed in 4K, the work explores the relationship between the body, landscape, and archaeological memory, drawing inspiration from Marija Gimbutas's research on Neolithic animistic and matrilineal cultures. Set between southeastern Italy, the Grotta Scaloria, and the Apulian coast, the film unfolds as a ritual journey composed of gestures, voices, and altered states of consciousness, in dialogue with ancient remains, figurines, and places of worship. The project is commissioned by the Lithuanian National Museum of Art and curated by Louise O'Kelly.
Opening to the public: from Saturday, May 9, 2026.
