June 10-11 & June 24-25, 2026:

Art and philosophy workshop for children (ages 6-12)

“Words, things, a look”

The Berggruen Institute Europe, in collaboration with the SUMus association, offers a unique experience for children aged 6 to 12: art and philosophy workshops designed to stimulate curiosity, creativity and the development of critical thinking.

Through artistic activities, thought-provoking games and guided discussions, children are invited to explore the world differently: to observe, question and imagine.

This series of workshops is part of the exhibition dedicated to Joseph Kosuth, presented at the Casa dei Tre Oci, headquarters of the Berggruen Institute Europe in Venice.

The educational project aims to introduce children to the central themes of Kosuth's practice — in particular the relationship between word, image and object, as well as reflection on language as a tool for constructing meaning — through an experiential, participatory and accessible approach.

Visit to the exhibition

Each workshop includes access to the current exhibition at Casa dei Tre Oci: "The Exchange Value of Language Has Fallen to Zero ." The exhibition explores major contemporary issues—climate, technology, and possible futures—through art and architecture. It offers children and their parents a first, sensitive, and accessible introduction to the transformations of the contemporary world.

The workshop takes place over two consecutive days — June 10 and 11 or June 24 and 25 — and registration includes both sessions, for a total duration of 4 hours.

Day 1 (2 hours)

The first session introduces the central themes of Joseph Kosuth's exhibition through hands-on activities and discussions. Children explore the relationship between word, object, and representation by observing and transforming everyday objects, while experimenting with new meanings and definitions.

Day 2 (2 hours)

The second meeting delves deeper into the role of space, the visitor's journey, and the viewer in constructing meaning from the artwork. Through exploration of the exhibition, participants reflect on how relationships, choices, and points of view transform the artistic experience.
